Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County

The Boys & Girls Club is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire and empower youth to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive and successful citizens. The Boys & Girls Club provides opportunities for youth to participate in athletics, gardening, after school tutoring, and programming that help underserved youth learn life skills such as nutrition, fitness, and teamwork.

GI Josie

GI Josie is a non-profit that serves women veterans and their children.  These women have suffered trauma related to their military service. GI Josie provides non-clinical therapy options, including equine therapy, gardening, art, yoga and meditation, as well as group activities such as kayaking and hiking. There are over 80 horses on site at the horse ranch in Salinas.

Japanese American Citizens League

The Japanese American Citizens League is a non-profit historic community center and museum. It was purpose-built to promote Japanese culture and the Japanese community that lives and thrives in Monterey. It has been operational since its establishment in 1932. The League hosts regular cultural and social gatherings each month.

MEarth

MEarth is a non-profit that seeks to inspire the local community through environmental stewardship. It provides education with curriculum and programming focused on sustainability practices and principles. MEarth is committed to advocating for positive change in the lives of individuals, in the local community, the country, and around the globe. MEarth is located in Carmel; on its grounds you will find native plants, an extensive vegetable garden, and a sustainably built commercial kitchen used for programming and events.

Monterey County Food Bank

The Food Bank is a non-profit that works to end hunger and transform the health of the community through good nutrition. This is accomplished through distributing healthy food to underserved communities in the Monterey Peninsula region. They also focus on providing nutrition education and have recently built a new facility in Salinas with 50,000 square feet of food storage space. They are the community’s largest, most comprehensive provider of emergency supplemental food, and deliver of 5,000,000 pounds of food annually.

Monterey History and Art Association

Monterey History & Art Association is a non-profit organization that seeks to share the history and legacies of the diverse people, stories and places that have shaped this beautiful and unique corner of California. The Association maintains multiple historic buildings and sites, as well as the Path of History. In the Stanton Center, the MHAA has curated a history and art exhibit which highlights specifically the Italian and Japanese immigrants that came to Monterey.

The Tech Interactive

The Tech Interactive is a non-profit interactive museum in San Jose, with a mission to inspire the innovator in everyone. Visitors to the museum can design a real robot, play with wearable technology, and experience a simulated earthquake. In 2018, the Tech opened the first interactive bioengineering exhibit in the U.S. The museum is a hub for education, and a site for many school field trips and professional development programs.
